Why do we celebrate it?
World Photo Day is an international photography event on August 19th that celebrates the passion for photography in our communities.
The date behind World Photo Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic processes developed by Joseph Nicephore Niepce and Louis Daguerre in 1837.
On January 9, 1839, The French Academy of Sciences announced the daguerreotype process. A few months later, on August 19, 1839, the French government purchased the patent and announced the invention as a gift “Free to the World”.
Exhibition of Glass Plate Photography at Hyderabad
Celebrating 177 Years of Photography. On, 19th August 2016, The Telangana Tourism‘s Department of Archaeology & Museums is conducting Exhibition for Glass Plate Photography Negatives at the State Museum, Public Gardens, Hyderabad.
The visitors can see the aegis of erstwhile Nizam State in the Year 1914 covering the Deccan Area. Telangana is now organizing this unique and interesting exhibition which showcases the Glass plate negatives in its original form.
This is the best opportunity to see the glory of Telangana in glass plate photography.
